Rosedale

Toronto

2023

This distinctive Rosedale home presented a unique design challenge: unifying two types of wood and three contrasting tones—a newly installed European white oak floor, dramatic black marble accents, and original antique brown oak.

At the heart of the home, a central hall and staircase served as the intersection point for these diverse materials. Careful planning and precise execution allowed for seamless transitions between finishes, blending old and new with understated elegance.

The result is a visually cohesive interior that honours the home’s character and history while introducing a fresh, modern aesthetic.

This 5,000 sq ft penthouse features European white oak flooring, finished with Rubio Monocoat to highlight its natural beauty and ensure long-lasting durability. The design is anchored by a predominantly herringbone pattern, enhanced with custom borders, standing soldier thresholds, and detailed inlays-each element demanding exacting precision and patience.

Every detail, from layout to finish, was executed faithfully to the architect’s drawings, showcasing a commitment to both refined craftsmanship and architectural intent. The result is a truly bespoke floor that elevates the entire living space.
